Cyber Security … Internet Security … PC Security … Smartphone Security … IoT Security …
According to Statista (https://www.statista.com) there were 668 data breaches in 2018 and 22 million records exposed in 2018.
And according to CNN Business (https://money.cnn.com) nearly 1 million new virus and malware threats are released (unleashed) on the Internet every day!
PCWorld (https://www.pcworld.com) states that nearly a fifth of U.S. PCs have no Antivirus protection, McAfee finds… 🙁
Firstpost (https://firstpost.com) states that in 2017, according to the findings by Russia-based Kaspersky Lab over 1.2 million mobile users witnessed a malware attack in 2017.
And according to sdxcentral (https://www.sdxcentral.com) IoT botnet activity represented 78 percent of malware detection events in communication service provider networks in 2018.
What to do???
Do your part!!! … while you cannot protect yourself from some data breaches (such as Equifax), you can protect your computer, smartphone, and IoT devices.
- Use strong passwords – upper- and lower-case characters, numbers and special characters (the longer the better).
- Use 2FA (two-factor-authentication) whenever possible.
- Don’t use the same password twice!
- Don’t save your passwords on your device.
- Do use good Antivirus and Anti-malware software!
- Change your default password for routers and IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
- Update the firmware on these devices (often).
And …
Always have a good backup 🙂 … if you have not noticed by now – I’m big on backup 🙂 … it’s your data … the life blood of your computer… Computers can be repaired or replaced – this is not always the case with your data …
If you need some help with security – call me 🙂 … I can get your computer as protected as it can possibly be! Why? … because I am The Computer Man! 🙂
Be safe out (and secure) out there!!!
